Over the period of the next 5 years, the club evolved into the nation's finest premier motorcycle-touring group of the era. The club s annual motorcycle tours through Colorado and Wyoming attracted a great deal of attention as reported by both the trade press and the popular press of the day.
Today, a new group of motorcycle enthusiasts based in Lawrence, Kansas has come forward to revitalize the good name of the Kansas Short Grass Motorcycle Club. It is their intention to reestablish the Kansas Short Grass Motorcycle Club as being the finest motorcycle-touring group in the U.S. An organization meeting was recently held to reintroduce the Kansas Short Grass Motorcycle Club to a new generation of riders. Club members will be making a big effort this summer to help return the group s name to national prominence. Club members state that, "With your assistance and vision for the future, we am certain that our new club will once again be recognized as the finest in the land." It is to this end that the club will be sponsoring monthly scenic motorcycle tours held the Second Sunday of each month from now through November. The Club hopes to recruit new members along the way. Daylong trips are being planned to tour through northeast Kansas and northwest Missouri. Points of interest along the planned routes include: natural scenery, historic locations, museums, cultural events and of course, a good home-cooked meal along the way. The organization is open to riders over the age of 18. All makes and models of motorcycles are welcomed.
Membership dues are $50/yr for singles and $75/yr for families. The Club s next tour will be posted on our website at www.ksgmc.org prior to each event.
Come join the oldest motorcycle club in the state and become a part of Kansas history!
Ride Safe,
The Kansas Short Grass Motorcycle Club
P.S. We ride the Second Sunday of each month. We meet at the Checker s Foods parking lot in Lawrence, Kansas located at 23d and Louisiana Street beginning at 9 am. The tour leaves the parking lot at 10 am. We invite guests to ride on their first tour at a reduced rate to determine if our organization is right for you. We hope to see you soon and be sure to invite your friends!

Don’t believe in winterizing your motorcycle? Neither do we! This is our third season with the series of events and each year it grows bigger. Last year we averaged 30 people per meeting with a total of 54 riders signed up. The best thing about the Polar Bears is there is very little commitment, show up anytime (sign in between 11:30 and 12:30) leave when you want. There is no set group ride or route, ride with who ever you want, however you want. We do not care what type of bike you ride. Here is a simple flyer and website to get things started, the website will grow in content as time allows, and I think we are working on a better flyer. But this flyer gets the point across. Check out www.westcentralmopolarbears.com we will post the status of a ride no later than 10:30 on the day of the ride. In case of cancellations they will most likely be moved to the following weekend, stay tuned to the website for such information.
Hope to see you out there, or forward to anyone you think is as crazy as we are!

Jeff Richards

worst hands. All proceeds are going back to the Survival Center.
